Fort Lauderdale, Florida Layover Guide

If you are in the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) for a layover, don’t worry. It is the primary destination of Spirit Airways. It is only 3 mi. from the center of Fort Lauderdale.

There are many things to do and see such as restaurants, shops, business areas, ATMs, and much more. You can find more info about the business areas here. There is also wifi in the terminals. You can also take tours with an appointment as long as it is for 20 people or fewer and for 7 years and older. You can learn about safety in aviation as well as the history of the airport.

You can store your bags in Public Storage. The one in Terminal 2 is open every day of the week starting at 9 in the morning – 5:30 in the evening. In addition, if you are taking Southwest Airlines, and returning from a cruise, you can check in from the port. There are several nearby hotels for those coming in during the evening or just want to rest.

You can head into the city using yellow taxicabs located right in front. They are available all the time. You can also get public transportation, rental cars, hotel shuttles, courtesy shuttles, as well as shared vans.
