A must-see in Moldova, Orheiul Vechi is an archaeological complex outside of Orhei city. Come here to see the ancient fortresses and early Christian monasteries, including the Orheiul Vechi Monastery which is carved into a limestone cliff. Cricova Winery

A thirty minute drive north of Chisinau is the Cricova Winery, the second largest underground winery in the world. Tipova Monastery

Tipova Monastery, on the banks of the Dniestr River, consist of three main complexes and is built into rocks. The first complex is called the Church of the Feast of the Holy Cross and dates as far back as the 11th century. The second, the Church of St Nicholas was built in the 14th and 15th centuries while the third and newest complex dates back to the 16th and 18th centuries. One theory suggests that monasteries were built to serve as a refuge for Christians from the Tartars during the 13th century invasions. The Holy Trinity Monastery is situated in the village of Sahana, 110km north of Chisinau. Many come here to visit the monastery, but the natural beauty surrounding Saharna alone is worth the trip. The landscape here is both stunning and serene, there is a real feeling of peace and calm in this area. Saharna is full of natural gems including the many waterfalls on the River Saharna, each waterfall more breathtaking than the last. This is one of the must do things in Moldova.
