Manila, a beautiful bayside city in on the island of Lazon is surrounded by many wonders of the nature that you can escape to. There’s so many great places to hike in Manila. If you are a hiker with a constant calling of outdoors who found yourself in Manila, here are some of the peaks that you can wander off to. I kept the list low in difficulty levels and high in the stunning scenery around and the best Manila hiking places that you need to visit.


Best Places To Hike In Manila

Mt. Batulao (Nasugbu, Batangas)

Level of difficulty: Moderate
Distance from Manila: 2.5 hours’ drive
Duration: 2-4 hours

Mt. Batulao is another popular hiking spot near Manila with many open trails. There is the “Old Trail” and the “New Trail” which are the most often used trails especially by the beginners. You can choose your trail according to the difficulty level you prefer. At the top you will be greeted with a stunning panoramic view of the grasslands around the hill.


Mt. Daraitan (Tanay, Rizal)

Level of difficulty: Easy/Moderate
Distance from Manila: 4 hours’ drive
Duration: 2.5-4 hours

Located at the heart of the Sierra Madre mountain range, this is a stunning hiking trail passing many limestone formations and natural springs. The trail is quite well maintained and fairly easy for an experienced hiker, but if you are a beginner, it is better to take a few other hikes before you attempt on this one.


Mt. Gulugod-Baboy (Anilao, Batangas)

Distance from Manila: 1.5 to2 hours’ drive
Duration: 1-2 hours

This is another safe and enjoyable climb for beginners with stunning views of Batangas Bay and Balayan Bay at the distance. The slope is quite gentle, and the trail is well maintained and used by many eager hikers all throughout the year. You can complete the up and down climb and come back to Manila within half a day.


Mt. Manalmon (San Miguel, Bulacan)

Distance from Manila: 2.5 hours’ drive
Duration: 2 hours

This hike is possibly one of the most scenic trails you can take near Manila, especially due to the Madlum River that you will be passing along the way. You also get to see the mighty Sierra Madre range and the Mt. Arayat at the top of the hike. Within the trail there are many outdoor activities such as a spelunking and rock climbing as well.


Mt. Pinatubo (Pampanga)

Distance from Manila: 3 hours’ drive
Duration: 2 hours

When you want to have a change of scenery from the lush greenery which you often see around Manila, Mt. Pinatubo is a great option for a hike. You will see many stretches of sand and rock formations, almost feeling like you have been transported to a different part of the world. The location is a bit far away from the city, but the hike itself is quite easy and enjoyable.


Mt. Romelo (Siniloan, Laguna)

Level of difficulty: Easy
Distance from Manila: 2 hours’ drive
Duration: 2-3 hours

This is a very popular training spot for new hikers. The trail is easy enough to complete without straining yourself too much and long enough to get the full hiking experience. The ideal time for this hike is early summer due to no rain and mild climate. It is better to avoid the hike during the rainy season due to muddy trail, but if you are up for an adventure, that is when you can see some of the most beautiful waterfalls along the way.
