A must-see in Moldova, Orheiul Vechi is an archaeological complex outside of Orhei city. Tipova Monastery

Tipova Monastery, on the banks of the Dniestr River, consist of three main complexes and is built into rocks. The first complex is called the Church of the Feast of the Holy Cross and dates as far back as the 11th century. The second, the Church of St Nicholas was built in the 14th and 15th centuries while the third and newest complex dates back to the 16th and 18th centuries. One theory suggests that monasteries were built to serve as a refuge for Christians from the Tartars during the 13th century invasions. Saharna

The Holy Trinity Monastery is situated in the village of Sahana, 110km north of Chisinau. Many come here to visit the monastery, but the natural beauty surrounding Saharna alone is worth the trip.
