Paris October Events 2018/2019

The city of lights is one of the world’s most visited destinations, so it’s no surprise that every single month holds a plethora of events, exhibitions and things to do. If you’re visiting in October, then you’re in luck! Here are some things you can do in the month of October in Paris, France.

 

Attend Exhibitions

The city of Paris is sprawling with art and has always been the main inspirations for singers, writers, the bohemian crowd and actors. It always held a promise of things to do, events to go to , and of course – art exhibitions! This year, for example, they simply showcased the work of three major 20th century artists put together due to their friendship…An exploration of the relationships of art, friendship, artistic influences and inspiration at this exhibition. Here are some events you can catch if you’re in Paris in October 2018.

 

Where?

The Petit Palais

The Petit Palais is one of the best art museums in Paris and hosts several exhibitions monthly. The museum is known for its widely renowned temporary exhibitions – from the Yves Saint Laurent fashion exhibition to photography and art exhibitions. Also if you’d like, you can try attending The Art of Pastel, from Degas to Redon  that is still held until April 8th, 2018. The entire exhibition has a lot of emphasis on pastels, how magnificent they are when it comes to paintings and features masters like Edgar Degas, Paul Gaugin and Odilin Redon. Prepare to see the world in a “filter” of pastel colors!

 

Centre Pompidou

The Centre Pompidou has thrived as a hub for culture and art, serving as a futuristic edifice right in the middle of Paris, juxtaposing with its cobblestone lanes and its gorgeous medieval edifices. There’s lots of different exhibitions. For example, on October 23rd 2017 an entire exhibition was made for David Hockney.

The exhibition was timed for his 80th birthday and shows over 60 of his paintings in different types of media – from photos, videos, art installations to engravings. It was a major success and attracted all types of modern art fans.

  • Cubism exhibition that will take place at the Centre Pompidou. This will run from the 17th of October, 2018 until end of February in 2019, giving you enough time to catch the exhibition!

 

Annual events and festivals that happen in Paris every October

White Night [October 7th – Around Paris]

Ah, the wonders of the white night, an annual celebration that relishes art and culture, seamlessly intertwining together to create a gorgeous festival where most cultural attractions like museums and galleries hold free viewings, exhibits and galleries.

 

Vendanges de Montmartre [October 11th to 15th]

Travel back in time to the times when Montmartre was this jazzy hilly neighborhood where arts and culture thrived and grew, where writers came to find inspiration and where singers came to write their songs. The neighborhood was renowned for the quality of wine it produced and luckily for you, every year, the entire neighborhood celebrates the coming of fall by harvesting all the vines! You can try local food, sample all types of wines, participate in age-old traditions and dance the night away.

 

Chocolate Trade Fair [Salon du Chocolate] [October 28]

Where else you can find chocolate so perfectly intertwined with fashion, creating a highly unique event? Revel in the simple (and luxurious!) pleasures of life in this event held at the Porte de Versailles. Hundreds and hundreds of stalls of chocolates, patissiers, and food samples will be available along with plenty of activities, performances and events. Think conferences, tastings, workshops, parties and even a fashion show were models wear dresses made out of chocolate! This event cannot be missed if you’re in Paris in October.

 

International Contemporary Art Fair [October 19 – 22]

Another event that caters directly to all art and culture lovers, specifically people more into the contemporary art scene, the FIAC is an incredible showcasing of over 3000 works of art from all over the world. Some galleries are even hosted, giving an incredibly broad view of all types of artwork. The event is held in some of the most elegant gardens in Paris.

 

Musical Waters at the Chateau de Versailles [All weekends in October]

It was as if the Chateau de Versailles wasn’t magical enough, now they have magical fountain shows as well? Enjoy the play of water, light and the rhythm of music to create hypnotizing dances with water and get enamored with the splendor of it all at this event.

 

The Autumn Festival

The Paris Autumn Festival is an artistic festival that showcases art from all over the world. Theater? Check! Movies? Check! Dance? Check! Art? Also check! Everything is showcased in this festival, with an emphasis on both, local and international talents!
